Whether you love running, or hate it, there is always room for improvement. Just in time to train for the Oakland Marathon (March 20th, 2016), CrossFit Power Grid is launching a brand new Endurance program! This class will run Monday and Wednesday night at 6:30PM (in addition to the 6:30 traditional CrossFit class). The first class will be Monday, December 7th. Sign up here, first come first serve! More information can be found in the link at the bottom of this post.
The CrossFit Endurance program is perfect if you are interested in getting ready for a distance race, but don't have the time for several hours of daily training. The CFPG Endurance program will follow the CrossFit Endurance methodology and focus on proper running form and will test that form with intensity. Unlike traditional endurance training plans, CF Endurance does not focus on volume, but rather on form, thus helping to mitigate many of the traditional running injuries much of the population experience.
Coach Caesar is a CrossFit Level One and CrossFit Endurance Trainer. He is quite familiar with traditional endurance training, having run several Ironman Triathlons himself. Caesar has worked on improving run form for athletes of all levels. Whether it's your first race (even 5K is a great goal!) or you want to shave some time off your marathon pace, Coach Caesar will help you achieve your goal. Lace up your running shoes, and sign up today!

OLY Foundations will be offered Thursday at 5:30PM and Saturday at 11:30AM, each class will be roughly 75 minutes. You can drop in to as many or as few classes as you'd like according to your availability. Since classes are going to be capped at six athletes to ensure you get one-on-one coaching time, it is highly recommend you pre-register through The BoxHQ for each class you plan to attend. Spots are first come, first serve. You may be turned away from a full class if you did not pre-register.

For the second time this week, we are excited to announce the addition of another coach to our incredible team! Zach Seale will join the Power Grid team as a CrossFit coach. He will be leading our 6AM classes beginning Monday, November 9th. Our updated coaching/class schedule is below.
If you haven't had the pleasure of taking one of Zach's classes before, you are in for a real treat! I encourage all of our athletes to drop into a 6AM class soon to get to know Zach. If you see him around in the evening, please introduce yourself to him. Zach is incredibly charismatic, caring, and provides just the right blend of encouragement and challenge. He has done CrossFit since 2010 and has been coaching functional fitness since 2012. He has a ton of knowledge across all movement modalities, but is especially adept at gymnastic movement.
The announcements of growth to our staff this week are just a foreshadowing to numerous enhancements to your experience that we plan to offer. Next up, we'll be announcing our newly structured Olympic lifting classes, free for all members to drop-in and offered at multiple times throughout the week. In the coming months, be on the look out for various specialty seminars, classes, and events to supplement your fitness. We've got plans in the works for Yoga, Mobility, Rowing, Skill Clinics and more, all included with your membership!
As we close out 2015, look for Power Grid to keep growing. We owe everything to you, our athletes. Thank You!
Please join us in welcoming Danny Vo and Drew Ollero to the CrossFit Power Grid Coaching team!
Danny has been working with us for the past few months on developing supplemental programs for athletes that want to improve their Olympic lifts (Snatch and Clean & Jerk). Working closely with a small group of CFPG athletes, Danny has been able to clean up form and technique leading to new numerous PRs within his six week Oly Foundations program. In October, Danny obtained his USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach certification.
If you've met Danny, the first thing you probably notice is his big grin. However, when it's time to work hard he puts on his game face and gets it done. He is a great model for starting light, and progressing with patience and virtuosity on the Olympic lifts. Be on the look out for details as Danny will soon be heading up our brand new OLY classes, available as a weekly class(es) for all members! He is also available for one-on-one coaching in the Olympic lifts.
In August, Drew became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. He has officially joined our team as an Intern Coach. Over the next couple months, Drew will become more and more involved in leading classes and eventually will take on some classes of his own. You may have seen Drew around in the evenings, helping out with our 7:30pm classes. If you want to work out with him, he's a religious 6AM attendee.
One of our Founding Members, Drew has been around since some of the earliest workouts at Power Grid, before our doors were officially open. He moves with impeccable form, and is always striving for intensity in his workouts. Just like Danny, one of the first things you'll notice about Drew is his infectious smile and friendly demeanor. He's the only Power Grid coach that you'll have the pleasure of watching dance to the music while he works out (he's got some sweet moves).
Next time you see these two, buy them a Kill Cliff to congratulate them, and then pick their brain about how you can get better!
