CrossFit Power Grid is excited to welcome our neighbors Bulgarian Barbell Club into the Power Grid Facility! BGBC is expanding their business to the upstairs annex within Power Grid to serve as a standalone weightlifting program specifically geared towards competitive training in the Snatch and Clean and Jerk.
In just over our first year of business, we've established (and expanded!) CrossFit Power Grid's reach as the best functional fitness facility in Oakland. When we met with owners/coaches Petar Petrov and Victor Lopez, we connected through our shared vision of creating an even greater fitness powerhouse in the East Bay. Welcoming in the Bulgarian Barbell Club creates a perfect synergy of two elite fitness facilities under one roof.
CrossFit Power Grid will continue to focus on building the most well-rounded, healthy, fit athletes through our GPP (general physical preparedness) strength & conditioning program. Athletes are encouraged to join in our weekly specialty programs (included in your membership), including; Mobility, Oly Lifting Foundations, Running Endurance, and more!
BGBC will be transitioning into the annex over the coming weeks and begin training their athletes and weightlifting team. Get to know the coaches and athletes if you have a chance (we'll be sharing an entrance), and embrace them into the Power Grid community! One of our greatest opportunities as a community is the opportunity to learn from and share experiences with athletes training under different disciplines. This is part of what makes CrossFit so successful; the blending of multiple training philosophies to form a greater understanding of human movement.
In the coming months, look out as we announce further levels to our partnership including in-house weightlifting seminars, competitions, and hybrid membership packages!
Strive Valiantly. Dare Greatly.
We can't tell you all enough how important every single athlete is to Power Grid. In fact, you ARE Power Grid; and in turn, we'd be nothing without you. So, when it comes time for us to make decisions about things like new specialty programs, equipment, or expanded hours, we listen to your opinions first. It's the whole reason we went with the idea of the comment board when we opened our doors last year. The comment board has found a new home in the athlete lounge area -- check it out! We can't wait to read all of your thoughtful (but mostly punny and dry humored) comments/questions/suggestions/feedback. We will promise to respond to everything you write, even if we can't fulfill it quite yet.
On that note, a couple pieces of EXCITING NEWS:
Also based on your feedback, we've created an area for all of our furry pet friends to hang out while their BFF gets their workout on. Your dogs can hang out in the doggy cage area in the athlete lounge, near the water fountain. As always, we have toys, T-R-E-A-Ts, water, and doggy bags available for your canine. In the future, we plan to build an outdoor run with shade and fresh air for when it's not too hot out. For everyone's safety and to keep the gym clean, pets are not allowed unleashed on the training floor at any time. Talk to a coach if you have any questions 8^)

We are super excited to have the opportunity to host Coach Tony Blauer and CrossFit Defense at CFPG! This seminar is extremely popular and we encourage everyone to sign up asap, as it fills up fast.
CrossFitters train for the unknown and unknowable, but elite fitness does not guarantee personal safety. If CrossFit is the study of human movement, CrossFit Defense is the study of human movement as it relates to violence, fear and aggression. Coach Tony Blauer created a physiologic and instinct-based system (the SPEAR System) that is the seamless interface between the high-intensity CrossFit protocol and the ingrained human self-defense system. It is the only personal-defense system in the world based on the body’s physiological response to danger. Athletes are taught close-quarters skills (no fighting drills) and combines fun, dynamic and effective drills that are extremely effective for anyone of any age who may have to defend himself or herself.
